So what happened? Basically, I came down with a serious case of stupid when the security bulletin about TimThumb came out about two months ago. Of course, that happened — predictably — around the time that my life got busy (again). Not in good way, either. During the night of August 2 or in the wee morning hours of August 3rd, some ass-clown thought it was amusing to throw a liquor bottle at my rear window. My mind had been on that, plus a few other issues involving my car (fuel pressure regulator needed replacing, starter died leaving me stranded at work, etc). Needless to say, things were busy. Both at home, and at work. Unfortunately, I ended up neglecting things, plus I sort of soured on things that I used to enjoy doing, like web design and development. Not sure if it was the job, or just the stress of the spring and summer. Either way, it seemed like I didn’t have enough free time to myself and when I got it, I tended to spend my time asleep or outdoors.
Anyway, I would recommend re-downloading Manga+Press 2.6 from the WordPress plugin site immediately as that release contains the updated version of TimThumb or better yet, switch to the release candidate 2.7, which doesn’t contain TimThumb. I had decided to remove it in favor of the WordPress thumbnail functionality.
Finally, I’ll have a few more announcements in the next week concerning the future of Manga+Press, so stay tuned!
